Storey Carpets

Advice Centre - Style Guide - Child's BedroomBack

Designer kids need designer rooms! Many children today are design led and brand conscious. They grow up fast, developing their own individual personality and, having a stylish room of their own is just one way that helps them to express their individuality and impress their friends.

Remember when your mum made you live with that vile flowery wallpaper with carpets and curtains to match? Suddenly, the latest generation of parents have found that they can design the children’s bedroom that they never had and the results are exiting vibrant rooms that stimulate young imaginations.

Use bright and bold coloured carpet to create the tone for the room. Mixing bold colours can create a multitude of effects and can be instrumental in creating a theme such as an under sea world, a jungle setting or a room fit for a fairytale princess.

A plain twist carpetis ideal – it is durable and resilient to the effects of little feet (trainers are particularly hard on carpets).

Indulgence

Lay the carpet on a heavy quality underlay to make it feel every bit as luxurious as a carpet three times the price. This will ensure that your child’s room is safer and warmer and it also will also provide very welcome sound insulation. Don’t be put off by the price of a good underlay compared with the carpet - the floor will feel much better underfoot, your carpet will last longer and if you want to change your carpet more frequently you can leave the underlay down, saving both time and money.
